Soak 6 oz package of Northern White Beans overnight according to directions on package. Drain water from beans and check beans for any foreign materials.
Add beans to a pan cover with fresh water and bring to a boil - then simmer for 1 1/2 hours or until tender.
Drain and pour beans into a large casserole pan or stainless steel oven pan.
To the beans add:1 can 16 oz. crushed tomatoes
1 can 8 oz tomato sauce
1 large chopped onion
3 cloves crushed garlic
3 cups firmly packed brown sugar
Salt and Pepper
Cover with aluminum foil or lid and bake at 325 degrees for
2 1/2 to 3 hours. The secret of these delicious baked beans is the slow baking and the brown sugar.
If you want to bake them longer turn the oven down to 300 degrees and bake them a little longer - this makes them even more delicious.
If you want the beans a little more juicy add more crushed tomotoes or tomato sauce as they are baking.
