You Say Syrah, I Say Shiraz

Friday, Sept. 12 - 6-8pm - Bend
Friday, Sept. 19 - 6-8pm - Ashland

If you live in Australia you drink Shiraz and if you live in other parts of the world like Frances' Rhone Valley or the warmer climes of the USA you drink Syrah. Same grape, different name. Legend has it that during the 13th century Crusades a French knight called Gaspard de Sterimberg discovered wonderful grapes near Shiraz in Persia, (now Iraq). And, as winery people tend to do, he 'liberated' some cuttings to plant back home at his Hermitage (farm) in the Rhone Valley. Now matter what you call it, the grape produces a wonderfully rich red wine that is one of our favorite varietals. Join us tonight as we pour six from around the world.

Friday, Sept. 26 - 6-8pm - Ashland

During the past three decades the Willamette Valley has been literally transformed from pasture land, timber stands and wheat fields into what is widely known as a world-class wine region. The star of course has been the fabled yet fussy Pinot Noir…but there are a number of other varietals grown here that show the diversity of the region. Join us tonight as we pour several wines that celebrate the Willamette Valley.
